Q: Does the Traffic Light Changer turn lights
green as I approach?
A: No, that would not be legal. The Traffic Light changer simply helps the
traffic light sense your presence,so it will not leave you waiting and waiting
and waiting...
Q: Just how does the Traffic Light Changer
work?
A: Sensors that are buried in the road work much like a metal detector. If the
senors do not detect the metal in your vehicle the traffic light will not cycle.
The Traffic Light Changer makes your bike appear like a much larger vehicle
therefore alerting the traffic light of your presence. No more endless waits for
the light to change.
Q: Does the Traffic Light Changer add much
weight to my motorcycle or change it's handling characteristics?
A: Nope, The Traffic Light Changer weighs less than 2
ounces and is about the size of a domino.
Q: Is the Traffic Light Changer ugly? Will it
detract from the looks of my motorcycle?
A: The Traffic Light Changer is probably not the best
looking accesory on the market, but it's not at all ugly. The Traffic Light
Changer is designed to be mounted on the underside of the bike outside of normal
view. Because of its dark color it tends to blend right in. The Traffic Light
Changer can be painted but we have not seen a reason to do so.
Q: Does the Traffic Light Changer tap into my
bikes electrical system?
A: No. The Traffic Light Changer not only does not tap
into your motorcycle's electrical system, it's completely self-contained and
doesn't even require a battery.
Q: What comes with the Traffic Light Changer?
A: You mean besides the useful package it comes in that you can store little
trinkets in? It comes with all the mounting hardware you'll need to securely
attach it to your motorcycle. A self-adhesive, insulating material is already
applied the back of the Traffic Light Changer. It comes
with a strap that adds more security to the attachment and easy to follow
instructions. The insulating strip serves to isolate it from your bike, so as
not to rob any power needed to activate the sensors and, it's sticky so it'll
grip onto your bike. All you need do is remove the backing from the adhesive
insulator, stick it on your motorcycle, wrap it with the enclosed strap and cut
off the excess strap material.
Q: Is the Traffic Light Changer legal?
Abs
YES! The Traffic Light Changer is legal in all 50
legal?
A: YES! The Traffic Light Changer is legal in all 50 states. It does not do
anything to effect the normal operation of a traffic light. It just helps the
light's sensors to detect your presence allowing the light to give you your
turn.
The Illinois Vehicle Code 625 ILCS 5/12-601.1 reads, in part: evices designed to allow traffic control signal systems to recognize or
detect motorcycles.
Q: How is the Traffic Light Changer different
from these MIRTs I see advertised? What is a MIRT, anyway?
A: A MIRT (Mobile InfraRed Transmitter) is designed and authorized for use only
by emergency vehicles, such as police cars, fire trucks and ambulances. Use by
anyone other than an authorized agency is a violation of the law.
The Traffic Light Changer does not alter the normal
operation of any traffic control device. The MIRT sends out a signal to a
traffic light that either turns the light green for the approaching emergency
vehicle or turns all the lights at the intersection red until the emergency
vehicle passes. Once again, the Traffic Light Changer
merely says to the buried sensor, "Hey! I'm here waiting" so you get your turn
when it's time.
Q: Is the Traffic Light Changer guaranteed to
work on ALL traffic lights?
A: Unfortunately, all traffic lights are not created equal. Not all lights work
on the buried loop technology and ones that do might be out of calibraion and
wont recognize even the biggest of vehicles. However, we do believe that you
will see that the Traffic Light Changer will work on about 90% of all lights
encountered. If you are not satisfied with your purchase simply return the
Traffic Light Changer and we will issue a full refund.
